peaks island art walks
The Art Walk on Peaks Island flows at a warm relaxed pace. Make a summer Saturday family day of it. Take the short 20 minute ferry ride, walk around or rent some bikes, visit artists in their studios and creative home spaces in the afternoon. Along the way put your toes in the sand, and enjoy a scoop of ice cream or a small sweet lemonade stand on the corner. After a visit with the artists, ease in for a sunset dinner at any of the down-front restaurants. Then take a cooling night air ferry ride back to Portland. Peaks Island ArtWalks happen only in summer, and reflect the creative closeness of neighbors and artists living together on a small island.
